I go through these phases of drama which I know that I do not need to go through as a shaman. I am working on ego right now and I am hoping to obtain further enlightenment in this area as it pertains to me and others. I am reading Eckhart Tolle's "A new Earth" I am so happy to feel like I'm doing something positive, but believe it or not that is ego. I have had issues with people trying to control me and people making me crazy with their competitive ways. Especially women who feel like they want everything I have.
Ot has been a long year I have gone through many strange things that I cannot speak of. Now I know why shaman are very secretive.
My perception of life has been changed for the better. i am very observant of many things. So much that I try to not notice things.
What is weird is that people think I am the old me and it is confusing to them. I do seem to understand my self in the 3rd party. As odd as it sounds I can look at my silliness and laugh.
Getting back to others I am hoping that I can evolve in a way that will let me integrate with others in a positive way and not a weird way like usual. I like my quirkiness and my point of view but it is time to grow.
I will be taking my 5 day training soon. I must get the cash to do it. It is $3,000USD. Then I need to work on my husband. He is weird about my studies. Then the job. They want me to live there.
Someday soon it will all melt away.

Good to be back after a couple of new attunements. I feel great today.
I have done Violet flame and Karuna Ki do Reiki. I finally finished up to the master/Teacher levels so I can have students. I hope that I can get my manuals together and have students soon. I think I am ready.
My website will go up this weekend even if I have to stay up all night with it.

I am using the GOGO inflight service to post my way across country. I am bored. I listened to music and tried to keep myself occupied without having to walk the aisle. I figure I would try to have some sense of normalcy on my 3 hour battery life. I am not happy that it is a full flight. I am squeezed in here tight. My throat is dry and feeling bad as the recycled air hits it and this is just the first hour.
The flight attendants are trying to serve us a drink, but as in coach there is no food unless you purchase it.
I forgot to get something good for the flight at the airport. No matter. It will be early whe I get to LAX and I may do Breakfast. It will be too early to check into the hotel. I keep forgetting that as the Timezone thing gets me every time.
I am going to LA not to run a Marathon, but to run the 5K. I feel that I may be able to make it. I have not reall run in awhile.
I have been doing the sick thing for so long I have forgotten how to run.
No Matter, I am going to beat my circumstances and get back into running. I feel like I need to do this just to become health again. This time next year I hope to really be getting my stride back and loving life again. I have not been that happy lately. Ideologically I may have changed more than most people around me. I no longer like the mundane, or appreciate the violent or fake violence. I am becoming much more aware of my surroundings. I want to more than ever give back to my community and use some of my G-d given gifts that I was given. I will have to stew on that one for awhile. Most of my relatives are still on the Material plane, doing the money thing. Somehow, money just doesn't seem as important to me. Maybe I have changed.

I am hosting a "Bakeless" Bake Sale for Share Our Strength's Great American Bake Sale, an exciting and fun campaign to help end childhood hunger in Americafor my birthday (All Month). I would love everyone to give a donation of $1 or more(it's a recession so I know $1 is the limit, but I'll leave that up to you). I would like to stop child hunger. Last year I raise $200 and this year I have doubled it. I am having a real bakesale on Thursday at my job, but until then a virtual sale will have to do. It's Low caloric and fun. The funds we raise will support local after-school and summer feeding programs critical during this difficult time.
Enjoy my bakesale site.
My fund-raising goal is $400.

Yesterday seemed to be a good day. There was no snow storms and no snow shovelling. (YAY) I went on my merry way to work.
All seemed well. Then I got the news that the Hospital that my nephew was in transfered him to the psych ward in another hospital. REMOTE! That is the word for where he is.
I have not gone there yet but I will today. Hopefully I will find him in good condition. It all starts today.

I am going to try to have a great weekend. I will go to the movies to see Coraline. I worked hard all week, so I'll try to have some surprises for my husband. I may get him a watch for Valentine's Day. I'm not sure yet.
We foundmy nephew, and I found out that he ran away from his Dad to his Mom's house. I really think that the family is dysfunctional. They keep saying that he is lying and not being responsible. I think he's finally going through puberty and he's becoming his own person. They treat him like a kid and expect him to be an adult. They say things like "be a man", but I am not sure they know what one is...does anyone really know anyway. This makes me sad.
Enough sad. I am having fun with my Reiki and I am going to a Reiki meetup to practice and learn new Reiki things. My life is looking up...just for today, I am Happy.

Last week was the worst week ever. I felt like an outsider in my own family. My friend Marcy said that it was a way for my family to grieve. I thought that they would band together and become close through adversity. They did the opposite. I guess people thought that there was something to hide. Or maybe a large inheritance.
These guys already have trust funds. I do not. I don't want their money. I can make my own.
I decided to call my Shaman, because I needed to speak to him anyway. He really set my mind at ease.
He let me know that funerals can be that messy. People can go nuts over the smallest things.
On another note after I flipped out on everyone, they all started treating me with Kid gloves. I had no choice, I really was out of control and very angry at how cold, cruel and heartless my family was being towards me. In my mind, I felt as if I was a stranger trying to fit in.
I apologized to my husband and started to keep people at bay. I think I wanted to save my sanity.
My shaman said "you need to become as a cloud. Let negative things go through and by you but do not take it in. Do not let it affect you. A cloud is unchanged as planes pass through them."
Not bad advice. So I am sending everyone in my family Sympathy cards, tomorrow!

Friday, Sept 19th I had a very pleasant afternoon off from work.
I went to my office for the first time that week, due to the Funeral arrangements. Also, I was to meet
gnomi and
mabfan in the City. They were in NYC for the week.
gnomi and I went to the South Street Seaport to look around and see a few local public art projects. The NYC Waterfalls Project were out and about http://www.nycwaterfalls.org/.
gnomi took pictures of them and caught a few shots of the President leaving for the Airport on a Military transport.
Though the afternoon was hot there was a cool breeze downtown. I love fall. We really had a good time.
It made my whole week.
I wish they were here.
So far my trip has been cursed. I lost my purse on the way out of the airport. I believe it may still be on my AA flight. I may never know. so I have nothing down here. If I was alone. I would have to beg to get home. Or worse, do jail time...I am lucky to be traveling with my husband.
So many other little things have been going wrong. I am truly miserable because the family politics are dreadful.
I never realized that I was such an outsider and that so many of them held a dislike of me for one reason or another. I was dissed, ignored and sometimes insulted. My resolution to let these people go away quietly and not talk to them for a long while is my only solution to this madness.
It's sad because I never thought I was such a dreadful person. I never felt so much pain.
I know everyone is grieving but there are some things that people should not do.
I will remember this.
I will no be posting till I return unless I just need to talk it out.
What is going on.

Letter: An open letter on the Hurricane Ike disaster in Turks and Caicos
Published on Wednesday, September 17, 2008 Email To Friend Print Version
To:
Honourable Secretary of State David Miliband
Honourable Parliamentary Secretary Meg Munn
Overseas Territories Director Colin Roberts
His Excellency Governor Gordon Wetherell
This correspondence is being sent to you with the utmost gravity, frustration, and heaviness of spirit when I see what Hurricane Ike has done to the one piece of real estate that I call home. That is Turks & Caicos. The majority of people are left destitute with literally no roofs over their head, and some with no homes at all. There is an acute shortage of food and water. At the outset let me say that I am quite pleased with the prompt response and appearance of the British warships, with their attendant helicopters, to assess damage and facilitate first aid care and emergency help. However, in this debilitating crisis, there is one huge oversight that the British must correct immediately. It is this:
Prior to the assault by Hurricane Ike, and Hurricane Hanna before that, the sitting government of the Turks & Caicos has been the subject of the most serious and intense Commission of Inquiry into massive allegations of having defrauded the citizens of T&C and stolen their assets. In fact, at the last budget session, the sitting Govt admitted that the country was facing a budget deficit. This while elected officials and their close circles have piled up ridiculously outrageous assets and afforded themselves and their cronies some of the most lucrative unheard of privileges in any sitting T&C Govt. Now, following the devastation by Hurricane Ike, we have this same cast of characters in place grandstanding, seeking political mileage, and being allowed to have a hand in relief and recovery efforts in this disaster. Allowing this is, in itself, a disaster. These individuals, due to their limitless capacity for greed, ineptitude, and deception, had put T&C in a precarious state before Hurricane Ike, and now they are being allowed to oversee recovery. A monumental mistake. These characters should, in no way be involved in the T&C Hurricane Ike relief effort. Period!
We are only a little over 72 hours removed from the assault by Hurricane Ike and this second disaster to T&C has begun. I have gotten reports of pallets of food arriving for Grand Turk, the most devastated island in the chain, and a Minister sending only two to Grand Turk and commandeering the lion’s share and sending it to his island that suffered nowhere near the damage as Grand Turk and South Caicos. Another report informs of a government official in one island with limited damage grabbing electricity generating equipment designated for the badly stricken Grand Turk and South Caicos, and doling out to people on his minimally affected island. There has been restriction on travel to Grand Turk, presumably so that it would not hinder recovery efforts. Yet Ministers and their cronies are seen piling on airplanes flying up to Grand Turk. I am told of individuals in the relief distribution network, some longtime political operatives, doling out materials to the stricken based on their political leanings. These outside relief agencies should be mindful of this when selecting its staff. They should get endorsements from the public before staffing their operations.
If your British Government does not act soon Turks & Caicos will sink into a black hole of never before seen frustration, despair, and lawlessness. I am now hearing of looting. A never before heard of phenomenon in T&C disaster situations. But what do you expect when T&C Govt officials foolishly overload our society with immigrant workers, effectively limiting the resources of its indigenous people? Someone called telling me how they had seen T&C Govt leader Mike Misick in a video touring Grand Turk and Salt Cay in the aftermath of Hurricane Ike. They are puzzled as to why he seems to be so gleeful and smiling, and eating from someone’s pot in Salt Cay. How absolutely ridiculous. This is not a political campaign. This is a crisis. I understand the T&C Govt is petitioning the Governor for Ministerial operations to be moved to Provo in the aftermath of Ike. Absolutely not! The majority of the disaster is in Grand Turk and South Caicos. Why should they be far removed in Provo driving around in their luxury Govt vehicles in Provo and have access to flying out to Miami every chance they get, while the people in those islands are left there in their hardships. The Ministerial operations should continue in Grand Turk with the Ministers right there seeing, living in, and addressing the hardships just like the citizens. This is true representation. Something they seem to know very little about.
But looking beyond the petty T&C Govt officials. My question is why has your Government not, at this point, already sidelined the sitting T&C Govt by putting the territory of Turks & Caicos into Conservatorship, and taking over control and putting an effective temporary administration in place. This should have been done at the outset of the Commission of Inquiry to limit interference and further deterioration in the state of affairs in T&C. If it was not done then, then there is every reason and justification to do so now, following Hurricane Ike. The Govt of T&C cannot function properly on a good day. Does anyone think they can function in this debilitating crisis? In this time of crisis in T&C the Commission should, rather than slow down, move into high gear. There should be two questions asked of these sitting Ministers. The first question: What does your Government have in reserve to take care of its citizens in this disaster? We know the answer. They admitted a budget deficit only months ago. The next question should be: How do you explain asset X based on your Government salary? If they have no proper explanation then it should be considered ill-gotten and confiscated, becoming the resources of the people of Turks & Caicos. Because in this disaster the people of T&C need all of their resources at their disposal. And it would be criminal for these characters to continue walking around in this crisis chock full of assets they cannot account for, while being unable to account for assets of citizens they were supposedly securing for just such an emergency.
Honourable MPs, Director, and Governor, here are some further suggestions in this time of debilitating crisis in Turks & Caicos:
Non Governmental Agencies, (NGOs) should be instrumental in this Hurricane Ike recovery effort. One such agency, Turks & Caicos Forum, represents indigenous T&C faces unhindered by political persuasion and highly qualified in the fields of healthcare, finances, education, and welfare and social ministering. Assets highly in demand at this time. I am requesting that HE Governor Wetherell commission this NGO with the authority to oversee relief efforts and liaison with the populace, government departments, and aid agencies.
Non citizens of T&C who exited the Islands just ahead of the storm, such as those on work permits who make their living providing contract service to the Govt and private industry, should not be allowed into T&C at this time. The country, in its current crisis state, cannot accommodate them until full normalcy is returned. The same thing should apply, in some measure, to newly-minted Belongers. This should be a priority instead of the current foolish policy in place which disallows people from Grand Turk to go to their Island to see to the well-being of their family.
Recovery should make it a priority to seeing that South Caicos, especially its fishermen, get immediate financial assistance. This island has always been the seafood capital of T&C. Reports are that all of the fishermen’s boats were swept out to sea and lost to Hurricane Ike. T&C Govt should see that they get boats and fuel immediately so that they can harvest seafood as soon as the ocean settles. In past hurricanes survival most certainly depended on the ability of our fishermen to sustain our people with their high protein catch from the sea. Their catch should become the property of T&C Govt and they should submit their bills to, and receive IOU’s from, the overseeing relief authority until things are up and running again.
Your British Government should consider providing police services from Britain. Our police, also as victims of Hurricane Ike, cannot be relied upon to be impartial in their policing. Also, they might not be able to deal with some of the issues that will surface as things deteriorate. These include crowd control and looting. Things novel to T&C policing.
T&C citizens living abroad should be heavily encouraged to come home at this time. Many of them, where they live, have experienced and been a part of emergency recovery efforts in similar disasters such as tornadoes, flooding, hurricane, and September 11. Their collective experiences and expertise can be of great assistance in this devastating situation.
Honourable MPs, these are just a few suggestions. Turks & Caicos is facing its gravest challenge in my lifetime and my sense of frustration is only surpassed by my overwhelming desire to assist so that the country that I share with fellow citizens can weather this disaster with the least possible pain and suffering. It is imperative that I hear back from you promptly.
Ben Roberts

I just heard that my Uncle has passed away. He survived Hurricane Ike in the Turks & Caicos.
He was a very unusual man. To him everything was possible. He was an infinitely Bright Person.
He was not as wise as he was intelligent, (he really could be considered a genius), but he had a good level of wisdom to impart to his family.
He was after all an ancestor.
He died alone in his house in Providenciales, Turks & Caicos, BWI.
He was a great man. He will be missed by Many here in the US and other Places.
He left behind a son, Charles, and a daughter Kathy, a wife, my aunt and many other relatives including me.
I have told my family because I heard first. Now, I will start self medication....

I have had a problem all Summer with a wandering Black Tabby (cute!), who likes to swim in my mini lily pond. My lily pond has suffered. I may have to restart next year but I need to have. My lily needs another one to join it and maybe two iris' as well. I love to have a great pond, but I need a cage and a cover to keep the cats at bay.
Every Morning when he gets let out he heads straight for the pond i think he thinks that there are fish. I know a few people have koi ponds in the area. I just have a rock garden ( or the beginnings of one). I still need to purchase Rocks, A stone Buddha head and a small gong. I will order the gazing ball this week and the fountain.
I think I will comb China Town for the Buddha head too, but they cost so much. I would love to get it together before the winter though so that in the Spring I can focus on the inside.
Does anyone know where to get a custom mesh cover?

Today I saw pictures of Ike and of the devastation he caused on Grand Turk.
Grand Turk is unrecognizable. I am not as sure that South Caicos and Salt Cay did better.

I've spent the last five days working hard to provide everyone with updates, around the clock, on the status of the situation in the Turks and Caicos Islands. Provo is my home and the people of the TCI are my friends, neighbours, colleagues and community. I thank Gert for setting up and maintaining StormCarib, giving us this forum to stay in touch.
I know many thousands have read the updates, and I thank everyone who took the time to send me notes to say thanks.
I also know that many property owners and vacationers benefited from the information, which I am happy for. Before people put this awful event behind them and move on to cleaning up their property and getting things back to normal, I would encourage everyone to donate to StormCarib.
I am not formally affiliated with StormCarib, I was simply one of Gert's "hurricane correspondents". Gert and us correspondents are all volunteers, we don't do this for any financial gain. we do it because we care about the islands we call home.
There are real, hard costs, associated with setting up, updating and maintaining a site like StomCarib that can be very busy and use a lot of traffic during a storm like Ike. I strongly encourage everyone who used this site as a resource to stay up to date on their interests in the TCI, to donate at least US$5 to Gert/StormCarib at the following link: http://stormcarib.com/donate.htm
Donations are made via PayPal which is the payment arm of eBay. Payments are secure and you do NOT need an account to make a payment, you can put your desired amount on your credit card as a one time charge.
If you benefited or were in any way comforted by the efforts of those who made this information available, please give so the site can be here for the next storm. http://stormcarib.com/donate.htm

PS - If you're feeling really generous and have the means, I am interested in establishing a detailed weather monitoring station on Provo in the same vein as the unit known as GeekHo on Pine Cay. It provides not only weather, wind, rainfall and other info but also a stream of photos that can be used to monitor the situation from afar. I am informed this is a ~$4K project. If you want to be involved with that, please let me know.

I spoke to people on the Island today and Provo seems to have done well.
There is flooding and some roof damage, but I have not heard of any deaths. I hope that there will not be any.
My wish for Provo is a speedy recovery.
However, Grand Turk is flattened. 80% of the buildings there are damaged. Salt Cay has extensive damage also.
I am afraid to call over there but I feel that I will not get anyone anyway. The phones may be out.

The sun is shining brightly over Provo at the moment, what a beautiful sight. We are all preparing for the oncoming Ike's unwanted visit. Please pray for us that the storm moves further north so we don't receive a direct hit from the category 4 monster. We just took a drive to Five Cays and the water is receding from the roads. We were at the IGA when it opened at 7:00 a.m. and there were already quite a few people there A sign posted states that the boat is in but the dock is closed, hopefully it will reopen today. The shelter at the Enid Capron school in Five Cays has an urgent request for diapers and any other supplies people can contribute. Please help if you can. We all have to work together as we are all on this little island together and must face this storm. Many thanks to the police and firemen who are working 24 hours to rescue and protect our citizens.
